Wool, sheep, herds and Wagyu — the farm’s working heart.
vlakte
Honouring the land, preserving our heritage, & building something lasting for the next generation.
Rooted in the Northern Cape - Uppington area
Hartebeestvlakte has been farmed through an understanding of the land, the extreme climate that governs it — its rhythms, its demands, its extraordinary capacity — this raw unspoilt landscape sitting on the cusp of the Kalahari and Boesmanland is where we find our peace and harmony with nature.
"The land teaches patience. Everything here takes its own time." Gerrit Niewoudt, Co-Owner & Farmer
Across our farming, hunting and conservation work, we raise, breed and produce with integrity. From premium cattle, sheep, boer goats and Merino wool to conservation of certain wildlife species and ethically managed game, each enterprise is guided by the same principle: respect what the land gives you and appreciation of the beauty and nature that surrounds you.

Set in the Northern Cape
Hartebeestvlakte sits in a landscape shaped by heat, distance and open sky. The farm's character is inseparable from the Kalahari veld around it: sparse, resilient and quietly abundant.
